Uncle Matt tried very hard to coax Gus out with some treats and he sprayed him with the hose, but Gus would not come out from under the club house. He had found a nice safe place and that was where he was going to stay.
Libby and Shannon worried about Gus daily. It was difficult to see if Gus was still under the club house since it was dark. Weeks would pass and Libby would call Aunt Anne and tell her that she was afraid that Gus might have run away or died, this made Aunt Anne sad. As soon as Libby would relay the unfortunate information about Gus someone would see him run across the yard and quickly scamper under the club house. This charade went on for about three months until one day Gus moved out from under the club house.
Gus must have had enough with the spiders and decided that it would be nice to have one of the Clem family pay attention to him. He relocated from the dark basement locale he had initially chosen to a sunny, breezy, elevated area on the front porch. Gus had made it. Gus was a country cat.
