Last night after Shannon went back to work and the kids were in bed I waited. I waited for the headlights that I would see pull into the driveway and the rattle of the trailer I would hear carrying Toby, the miniature horse. A little after nine my friend and her husband pulled in, the crunch of gravel signaling their arrival.
I walked out to greet them and the three of us made our way to the back of the trailer to get Toby and show him his new home. He was a bit hesitant at first and timidly made his way down the trailer ramp, but as we walked down the driveway he followed without a fight. I led Toby to the fenced area that would be his new home and after we let him off his lead and gave him a few good rubs he was on his own for the night.
Earlier this morning I fed everyone and Toby was doing well, he galloped around the pen a bit and came over to the fence to greet me, but more importantly to be fed.
So far I am the only person in the family that knows about this little guys existence and I am curious to see how long it takes for the rest of the family to notice.
