Our family just got back from a trip to Disney World over fall break, and after not having costumes planned for the trip (Not So Scary Halloween Party) we took three year ago, this time I planned. I considered Trolls, Winnie the Pooh, Frozen, and a few other themes, but I finally decided on Stranger Things inspired costumes. The kids were unaware of anything (including the trip to DIsney) that was going on, and when random costume items would appear I was approached with a barrage of questions. Take a look at what I came up with, I was excited about the results, and cannot wait to dress up again...this time for Halloween. |
The Dustin inspired costume was easier because it required no sewing, but I did have to purchase the wig, hat and t-shirt from Amazon. The costume was complete with a pair of school khakis and Adidas sneakers.
Hopper was an easy costume, except that I had some trouble finding the right shirt, but Goodwill came through on my final trip. I hit up Amazon again for the hat and a sheriffs pin, while I was able to raid my husband’s closet for the pants.
I went back and forth with who I should be, Joyce or Barb, and Shannon convinced me to be Barb since she is more recognizable and not just a variation of what I normally wear. Unfortunately I had to buy most of my costume, but the jeans I found are super comfy and are now a part of my wardrobe, the shirt I found at Walmart, and the wig from Amazon. It took a while for me to find the right glasses, but a teacher at school pulled through with the perfect pair, and then I just wore my black Chucks.
Below are some photos of the completed ensemble. The kids loved walking around Disney in these costumes, they loved that people recognized who they were supposed to be, and RJ was excited that someone wanted her picture taken with him.
